The Adaykaputhoor Valkannadi is a unique, traditional handmade metal mirror crafted in Adakkaputhur, a village just 3 km from Suryamangalam Heritage. This ancient art form, practiced by skilled artisans, involves melting copper, tin, and other metals at high temperatures to create polished, reflective surfaces. These mirrors, known for their intricate craftsmanship, are considered auspicious and are often gifted during weddings and ceremonies in Kerala. A visit to the Valkannadi workshops offers a fascinating glimpse into this cultural tradition, showcasing the meticulous process and historical significance of the craft. Beyond these, Adakkaputhur is also known for its skilled artisans who create metal mirrors using traditional methods, melting copper, tin, and other metals at high temperatures. These mirrors are considered auspicious and are often gifted during weddings and other ceremonies.

According to a cherished local legend, Mangottu Bhagavathi, the temple's presiding deity, arrived at this location to fulfill the heartfelt desire of a devout weaver named Kuttan. Kuttan, who was a great devotee of the Goddess and a seller of woven clothes at various festivals, was captivated by the Devi's appearance at one such event and mentally invited her to return with him. During a procession, when strong winds displaced the garments of an idol, Kuttan offered his own fabric, which miraculously remained fixed on the Goddess.
